Prasanna Jayakody
Executive Creative Director/Company Director

If you have a previously scheduled appointment or are in a rush to return back to your half finished work, this is not a good time to meet Prasanna. Because Prasanna has this incorrigible habit of not being able to keep talking about a topic for few minutes without deviating the conversation into MOVIE MAKING! If Nishara is not around to elbow him gently with a reminder of the specific purpose of that particular meeting, he tends to start redoing the lines of a script, hunting locations, designing costumes and doing the storyboard with you! So, better to meet him leisurely.
MOVIE making is Prasanna’s life passion, The Obsession. So he is always, anytime, anywhere, planning his next movie.
Prasanna is an Internationally acclaimed Screen play writer and a Director in Sri Lanka. His unique creative capacity as a writer, designer and a director is one of the greatest assets THE28 possesses.

Having been born as the second son of an award-winning renowned Sri Lankan author (Jayasena Jayakody) Prasanna was introduced to creative writing at a very young age. But instead of following the footsteps of father, he chose the Stage and Screen over the print page. He started his artistic career as a playwright and a theatre director and after having received the national level appreciation he turned to directing tele series, and later established his identity as a film director.

Prasanna is an epitome of an artiste who has adventurously journeyed through life with an intense passion to experience, learn, unlearn and relearn. Along this journey, he has acquired a broad range of expertise in many areas pertaining to Visual Arts industry including scripting, cinematography, editing, casting, etc. Having not being framed and tamed by the formal institutionalized education, Prasanna has always dared to unleash the unrestricted radical creativity in him. The unique approach Prasanna had introduced in developing socially responsible marketing campaigns is hailed today as a game changer in the Advertising field in Sri Lanka.

Despite being so engrossed in creative business, Prasanna always finds time for his family. He is a loving father and an adorable husband. He is always willing to go the extra mile to help his buddies.

Prasanna is the coolest guy in the team as long as the office’s Coffee machine is working properly.

Sumudu Guruge
Research and Strategy Analyst

Sumudu is a versatile personality who has mastered a broad range of skills from Farming to Filming.

From his years long engagement in cultivating potatoes and vegetables, he has learned the importance of digging deep down to reap good results. 😊 Now he skillfully applies this in his analytical and research work, and surprises us with amazing findings.

Sumudu is widely known in the Sri Lankan Arts industry as a Musician with a remarkable identity, but those who are close to him knows that he is also a treasure chest of knowledge of many subjects including cultural anthropology, cognitive science, history, mythology, psychology, music, philosophy, theology, world religions and spiritual sciences. Sumudu is our Pantomath, which means he is always the ‘ask me anything’ guy around the table.

He was mercilessly exploiting his brain until he was given a flashing red light few years ago! After the surgery the speed of his speech slowed down, making his rapidly swirling thoughts to get more and more refined within him before bursting out as excellent ideas. 😊 Some in our team even wonder whether brain surgeries could boost up people’s wisdom!
Sumudu has over ten years’ experience working as an independent researcher, screen writer, film music composer and documentary film maker.

Sumudu is a dreamer and a born adventurist. The fact that this guy has been happily staying in our creative team, is a clear testimony of the value based, socially responsible work The28 is producing.

The dress code Sumudu adopts when coming to the office could be ranged from Short Shorts to Sarongs vividly colorful and dazzling in patterns!

Although Sumudu has never been open about this, we feel sure that the cute girl puppy sitting on his table, staring at him must be his secret divine Muse.

Sankha Chandrabhanu
Art Director

Sankha is the tech savvy guy at The28. So, everybody has to sit with him patiently, sometimes for hours depending on the nature of the job, to get their concepts and ideas into presentable formats This energetic young man’s perspective and careful eye for Colour and layout always add value and enrichen the concepts before they are presented to clients.

Since childhood, Sankha has been creatively utilizing his vivid imagination and love of science and technology to make fascinating innovations, and in addition to engaging in cinema and graphic designing, he has found great satisfaction in inventing things such as RC cars and robotics! In a time that the synergy between artistic creativity and expertise in science and IT is revolutionizing the advertising field, Sankha is an asset to The28.

After completing school education, Sankha started pursuing his higher studies in the Film and Television Post productions. He has successfully completed Graphic Designing and Video editing Higher Diplomas and currently reading for a degree in Television and Film Technology. He is a budding film maker. The debut short film he made, has won him several awards including, 2nd runner-up and Best Cinematography. As everybody else at The28, this vibrant young man also believes that he is working with the best team, he can ever wish to work with.

Nishara Tissera Perera
Manager - Marketing & Client Services

This vibrant personality with a steady and highly focused mind is the one who steers The28 team. She knows the destination and always carries the compass.

Everybody seems to be confident when Nishara is around. We know that she knows every bit of everything about our company, our clients and our done, to do and pending work. We can relax because she is capable of somehow getting the due person to deliver the due work before the due date.

Nishara is a sought-after high caliber marketing/branding professional who has reached many career milestones at a very young age. Yes, we believe that smaller companies need top talents. Nishara’s professional credentials include Master of Business Administration (UK), Certified Professional Marketer and Professional Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing (UK).

Having been born to a culturally diverse family, and being an extensive reader, Nishara’s perspective of the world and humanity is broad and sharp. Among the many skills she had mastered in her childhood, Traditional up-country dancing has been her greatest inspiration. She has even had volunteered teaching dancing at her Guru’s classes. Nishara’s affection and attachment to literature and fine arts has made her into a value-based marketing professional with a humanistic approach. Her quench to make a meaningful contribution to the society in her professional capacity is the reason that she has chosen The28.

Among the long list of Nishara’s strengths as a professional, Creativity, analytical thinking, Negotiation skills, Communication skills, It literacy, and Business planning skills stay on the top. Nishara’s analytical skills and subtle understanding and intuition about the dynamics of the market behaviors immensely contribute in developing and designing our creative campaigns.

Nishara is a highly motivated career focused person, but she is also a devoted mum and a sweet wife. She says now she always prioritizes her family over professional development. However, she is a perfect example of a dynamic woman who strikes a balance between a thriving career and a happy home life.

In the The28 team, Nishara is the most orderly and tidiest member. Her table never reveals the massive amount of work she does. And her ever shining smile never reveals how many things her mind is handling at a time.

It is obvious that her elegant presence adds to the pride of The28.

Nalin Premaratne
General Manager

Nalin is the Titan Atlas who is bearing the weight of The28 on his shoulders.

Of course, he is not punished by Zeus, or any worldly being I believe. Actually, He seems to be quite satisfied with the task!

Nalin holds dual responsibilities at The28. He is the General Manager – cum- the Accountant. Without least hesitation we admit that we all can relax and focus on our work because our Atlas is making sure that everything in and out of the office that affects us is fully under control and running smoothly. He is a problem solver with a pulse. Nalin breaks the manager stereotype by being so, easy going, fresh, full of life, cool and friendly to everybody that we feel very odd when we are required to introduce him to the outsiders as ‘The Manager’.

Being the Accountant of a newly started, growing company, Nalin bears a massive responsibility. He handles a range of ‘finance related’ tasks from reporting to financial planning for company’s future. But we don’t see him cuddling the calculator with a wrinkled forehead. He is a type of a man who doesn’t spend time calculating risks; instead he takes them. Leading a bunch of not so normal creatives, and sustaining a business is indeed a herculean task. Nalin’s emotional intelligence, is his biggest resource in this endeavor. His excellent PR skills and versality of knowledge is very advantageous in fulfilling his duties as somebody who oversees every aspect of a company.

Being companions from kindergarten, Prasanna and Nalin have a great sense of each other’s capacities, expertise and vulnerabilities. This blend of creative obsession and management, planning and coordinating skills hugely contributes to the success of The28. As Prasanna recalls, Nalin has always been the ‘altruist’ among his friends. He seems to be the same even now, as we often hear him trying to solve some kind of a problem of an old friend every day!

Nadie Kammallaweera
Creative Writer

Nadie has been determined to take a different path from her father who is a renowned author in Sri Lanka. Instead of getting into writing, Nadie got on to the stage, working hard to acquire the skills to become a performing artist. She has made her dream come true, but she couldn’t completely escape her father’s route.

Nadie is working closely with Prasanna as the creative writer of our team. Her extreme passion and practical involvement in movies, makes these two a greatly matching pair. She is very enthusiastic about a range of subject areas and always keen to open new doors to explore unknown worlds. Her personality doesn’t fit into one particular frame and she believes that being unpredictable is an interesting characteristic a creative person can have.

Nadie is known in the arts industry as a theatre/cinema and tele drama actress, writer and a translator. She has won several awards for her performances in movies and teledramas. She has been awarded the Best Translation twice at the State Drama Festival. Having got opportunities to contribute to some foreign productions in the capacity of an actress, she has gained some valuable experiences about the entertainment industry in different cultures.

Nadie admits that she is not as eccentric as Prasanna and Sumudu and thinks she deserves to be taken more seriously. Being the fastest walker and the loudest laugher in the team, her presence always brings an extra energy to the team.

Rangana Sinharage
Film Editor

Life is his university. Experience is his tutor.

Strong intuition and utmost sensibility are his major accomplishments.

Ranga Sinharage is a much sought-after editor in today’s entertainment industry in Sri Lanka. His being in our team immensely enhances our confidence as a creative consultancy agency.

Ranga was born as the heir to his father’s passion. Being a known cameraman in the cinema industry, Ranga’s father could not keep his children peeping into the backstage of the magical celluloid world. Although Ranga got mesmerized by the wonders of magic, even as a little boy, he was adamantly determined to choose a completely different career from his father’s as he closely saw the bitter financial struggles of the artistes involved in that industry.

But one cannot escape the recurrent call of passion of heart. He surrendered. As soon as schooling was finished, upon father’s insistence, Ranga finally agreed to go to Elmo Halliday, a renowned editor to get trained. Ranga enrolled as an obedient disciple of this Disapamok Achari, with a authoritative stern gaze and slowly launched a journey of learning by observing and absorbing. With a beautiful sporty smile, Ranga today recalls how he kept staring at the screens and buttons on the editing table, so intensively with wide open eyes, standing for hours, painstakingly trying to grasp the secrets of the craft. Ranga never had teachers in his life who explained things one by one and waited patiently until the student is confident to move on to the other lesson. Instead he had several mentors in his learning journey who were extraordinarily talented artistes and strict Sanseis, who threw their pupils into the sheer darkness and demanded they should not return without discovering the hidden lantern.

From Analogue editing, Ranga moved to Digital editing and from then on, speedily headed forward acquiring the expertise in the ever-advancing technical aspects of the craft of editing. He gradually established a place in the industry as an Editor with a unique sense. Both the veteran film makers of Sri Lanka and young budding artistes, have worked with Ranga. His mark as an editor in the Advertising industry is golden. His work has received many prestigious accolades at Cinema and Tele Award ceremonies including Best Editor of the year. Prasanna thinks the collaboration with Ranga is one of his most precious discoveries as a film maker. ‘Ranga, is an Editor who finds the perfect rhythm of the director’s breathing and save that rhythm in the moving images on the screen’, Prasanna says.
Rangana is a man with less words and deep feelings. When he gets into talking, it is a treat to the listeners, as he has a unique way of expressing ideas using his own set of slangs.
Walking calmly into the office, always clad in a baggy T shirt and a saggy denim, Ranga adds a soothing energy to the atmosphere. We feel complete as a team with his arrival.

Sahan is a movie lover and his dream is becoming a movie director one day. So, no worries! He is at the right place and under right guidance. Prasanna has already started mentoring him. Since a small boy, he has shown great interest in photography and later in life, this turned into a passion in film productions and he started self-learning editing, lighting, shooting etc. He says he is so fortunate that he got the opportunity to study what he loves in the formal higher education. Somebody who is well equipped with formal qualifications and utmost passion in the field of arts, is assured of a fulfilling career.

Sahan’s desire to explore the unseen and the unknown has made him a constant traveler. Travelling to amazing places around the country and documenting the experiences in the form of video documentaries is what he does in his holidays. He has made a number of short films and music videos for his student projects. ‘If I grow an interest in anything, I straightaway start learning it’ Sahan says. ‘ If I have access to internet, I intuitively know where to find the keys’.

Being a super innovative Genzy, Sahan is creatively handling the digital media platforms to make the presence of The28 shine brighter.
